Penthouse Gem used a downtown Chicago high rise apartment as its location. My frequent collaborator/model Aidan and I created the sprite-like characters through wardrobe and chalk pastel gestures that were created from life. The sketches were taken back to my studio and worked from for color reference, while finishing the final watercolor painting from photographs I took.
